Goju-ryu, translated means, the hard, soft system. It is an art which combines Chinese and Japanese martial arts principles. The circular blocks are considered the soft (ju) of GOJU and the hard (go) principles are the linear strikes. The Goju style of breathing stimulates the development of ki energy while the conditioning exercises develope the physical strength of the student. The combined elements of GOJU RYU create a complete fighting sytem that contains stikes, blocks,locks and throws.
Goju-Ryu kata contain powerful techniques which are not suited for sport karate. We practice these techniques carefully as bunkai oyo. We seperate the traditional techniques from the sport to compete in occasional tounaments. Our emphasis however is on the traditional Karate.
Seiwakai is one of the largest karate organizations in the world. Created by the late Tsuji Tasaki Hanshi. Seiwakai now has member dojos in 56 countries around the world. The Seiwakai world Headquarters is located in Omagari Japan. Seiwakai is headed by Seiichi Fujiwara Hanshi. Fujiwara Shihan is also a member of the Japan Karate Federation(JKF) and the JKF Goju Kai.
USA GOJU RYU KARATEDO SEIWAKAI is Seiwakai in the United States. Vassie Naidoo Shihan is the President of the USA GOJU RYU KARTATEDO SEIWAKAI (7th Dan seiwakai 6th dan JKF). Naidoo Shihan is a renouned Instructor and has traveled the world learning and spreading karate. Vassie Shihan has over 40 years of experience in the art of Goju Ryu. The Usa honbu is located in Santa Monica, California.
East West Goju Dojo is the New York Branch Dojo of the USA Goju Ryu Karatedo Seiwakai. Kevin Moskie is the Cheif instructor at the New York Branch dojo. Kevin Sensei has over 27 years of experience in Goju RYU Karatedo. He is proud to bring Seiwakai to New York .
